A dare a day (chapter seven)

After she left, I had my bath and got ready to sleep once I laid on my bed I felt my phone vibrate I took it from the top of my drawer with shaky hands, when I checked it, it was who I feared it would be. He sent two videos to me, the first one was of me taking the old woman’s phone which he labeled as A while the second one was Grace’s sex tape which he labeled as B.

“One of them is going viral, you have ten seconds to decide, if you don’t then two of them will.” If I hadn’t thought of how much my parents bought my phone, I would have thrown it to the wall. I stuffed my face in my pillow and screamed. How had a thumbs up put me in so much trouble, my face was still stuffed in my pillow when I got another text, “Times up.”

A video like that of me could destroy my future, but so could that of Grace. I didn’t have enough time to weigh the consequences of each but I had enough time to be selfish so with a heavy heart and shaky hands I texted, “B.”

I hid under my blanket, reading comments from Grace’s sex tape post. Reading it tortured me, but I didn’t stop because I deserved how it made me feel. I ignored calls from my workplace, parents, and Grace. She was probably calling to cry to me, and I could not imagine myself pretending like I didn’t practically press the share button.

A psychopath from the internet could not control the rest of my life, I needed a way out of my misery. The best way to get rid of your enemy is to get close to them first, and that was what I was going to do. I wasn’t sure how, but I was going to try like my life depended on it because it did.

“Hey,” I texted.

“Hey,” he replied immediately. “Having fun?”

“I intend to.”

“What do you mean?”

“Any more dangerous dares in store for me.”

“Be careful or I might think you’re eager for more.”

“I am.”

“You are?”

“Yes, besides I’m the one who wanted a boring free life.”

“In case you haven’t noticed, I intend to make you suffer not cure your boredom.”

“Why, why me, do I know you, did I ever do anything wrong to you?”

“You’ll find out just in time.”

“Are you trying to prove a point or you’re just a psychopath?”

“I want you to know how it feels to have your life controlled.”

“Why?”

“Have you ever wondered what the world would be like if people treat you the same way you treat them?”

“Maybe.”

“It would be a disastrous but fair world.” I had nothing else to say so I kept my phone in my drawer and cried myself to sleep.
